There are numerous study programmes available in 2017 to further one’s career, ranging from executive education programmes to an MBA. Now in its second year running and highly successful is the Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practice (PGDip), a qualification on NQF level 8 that allows successful students to go on to do an international MBA on a NQF level 9.

To do an MBA, the applicant requires at least three years’ management experience and an honours degree or equivalent on NQF 8 level such as a PGDip or four-year qualification. The various executive education programmes require differing levels of work and management experience.

Henley Business School Africa’s postgraduate diploma (PGDip) is accredited with the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and that can be delivered as either an open or customised programme.

“The PGDip was developed by Henley as stipulated by the announced CHE requirement and provides real skills for real-time application in the workplace,” said Jon Foster-Pedley, dean of Henley Business School Africa.

A PGDip requires a NQF level 7 qualification (B Degree or Advanced Diploma) as acceptance criteria. There are four, one-week modules and an additional 5th module whereby work is showcased via presentations to a panel of experts. The programme spans 21 contact days covering Systemic Management Practice, Innovation Wealth Creation, Managing Value Streams, Action Learning Report and Reflective Practice.

Public executive education programmes include amongst others, Finance Skills for General Managers and Business Owners, Professional Certificate in Coaching, Resilient Project Management, Managers’ Launchpad, Executive Speaker Programme and MAP+.

The MAP+ programme provides junior managers with context and knowledge to optimally manage in the operational domain. It aims to equip successful delegates with the skills and knowledge to become effective managers able to identify organisational problems and ascertain opportunities. Delegates will be taught to design and implement appropriate management solutions and actions.
