On behalf of Henley Africa, I wish to express our deepest condolences following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Her Royal Highness served the United Kingdom, its overseas territories and nations of the Commonwealth, with grace, humility and dedication throughout her 70-year reign as monarch. At the time of her death yesterday evening, she was Britain’s longest-serving monarch, but had also become a global byword for service, self-sacrifice and purpose.

Her Majesty will be sorely missed, but Britain and the Commonwealth will be incalculably richer for the life she led and the quiet but firm leadership she gave during a period of unprecedented world change. In a time where the meaning of words has sometimes become cheapened by overuse, Elizabeth II was an iconic figure in every respect of the word and the world is poorer today for her passing.

As a mark of respect, flags at our campus in Johannesburg have been lowered to half-mast and will remain lowered until the day after the State Funeral.

A Book of Condolence has been opened at our Johannesburg campus and will remain open until the day after the funeral.

Henley Africa will also join our colleagues in the United Kingdom to observe an official two-minute silence, at 1200 on Monday 12th September, at our campus in Johannesburg.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with His Majesty King Charles III and the Queen Consort and the entire Royal family, and the people of the United Kingdom at this sad time.

Jon Foster-Pedley
Henley Africa dean and director
