Henley Business School switches to 100% virtual and online learning immediately

Today, in order to deal with the COVID-19 threat, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Blade Nzimande, announced this afternoon that all higher education institutions should close until 15 April. Accordingly, Henley Business School Africa has switched to 100% online and virtual delivery immediately.

The threat we face together is large and unprecedented. It affects all of us. It is most important that work together to support the South African government and people worldwide in slowing the spread of the virus. While the great majority of people will experience less severe symptoms and recover, the smaller proportion of vulnerable people will be greatly assisted if hospital services and social infrastructure can spread the load as well as building resources and equipment.

Fortunately for our valued students, our delivery of programmes will continue seamlessly, albeit in a different format for now. We have been working hard in the last weeks in anticipation of this moment to install the right technology and platforms, train up our educators and support staff and launch our virtual learning capability. It has been working very well. We have also benefited from our international colleagues in our operations in the UK, Germany, Finland, Malta and Denmark.

Education must continue and we need it more than ever now to build the skills to grow a strong economy and give opportunity to all. We will as a nation recover from this and bounce back with energy and determination. In the meantime, we must look after ourselves, our families, our colleagues and community.

In your service,

Jon Foster-Pedley
